Practice & Learning Circles

Practice and Learning Circles are small, facilitated communities for exploring meaningful ideas in the company of others. They offer thoughtful spaces for reflection, conversation and shared inquiry.

Learning Circles

Learning Circles are organised around a shared book, body of work or area of inquiry.

Participants read or engage with agreed material between meetings and gather regularly to explore what they are discovering.

A Learning Circle is not a lecture or conventional book club. Learning emerges through the meeting of the material, personal reflection and the collective intelligence of the group. Participants are encouraged to question, make connections, consider different perspectives and notice how the learning relates to their own lives and work.

Practice Circles

Practice Circles focus on translating awareness into lived experience.

Participants explore a particular capacity, pattern or developmental theme over time and are invited to experiment with practices between meetings. The group becomes a place to reflect on what happened: what was noticed, what felt difficult, what shifted and what remains to be understood.

Practice is approached with curiosity rather than self-correction. The purpose is not to perfect ourselves or perform change successfully. It is to become more able to recognise the patterns that shape us, remain present to our experience and respond with greater freedom and choice.

Current and Upcoming Circles

The Applied Enneagram Learning Circle

A long-standing learning community for people interested in exploring the Enneagram as a living system of self-awareness and development.

The group works with one carefully selected book each year, reading a chapter each month and gathering to explore the material through reflection, conversation and shared inquiry. The emphasis is on lived application rather than acquiring information about types.

2027: The Enneagram of Passions and Virtues: Finding the Way Home by Sandra Maitri.

The circle meets monthly and is offered without charge. Membership is limited, and new participants are welcomed when a place becomes available.

Exploring the Patriarchy

A learning circle that examines patriarchy not only as a social system, but as something that can shape our relationships, identities, expectations and inner lives.

Through shared reading and honest conversation, participants explore how patriarchal ideas are learned, maintained and internalised—and how they might be questioned or lived differently. The circle welcomes complexity and encourages participants to examine the subject with openness, courage and compassion.

2027 reading: To be announced.

Exploring the Patriarchy is offered without charge. Membership is limited, and new participants are welcomed when a place becomes available.

The Practice of Freedom

A year-long facilitated Practice Circle based on Byron Brown’s Soul Without Shame.

Through monthly gatherings, personal practice and peer reflection, participants explore the Inner Critic and develop greater freedom, presence and choice.

Coach | Mentor Learning Circle

A facilitated professional learning community for coaches and mentors who want to continue developing their practice in the company of thoughtful peers.

The circle will bring professional reading into conversation with participants’ lived experience of coaching and mentoring. It will create space to examine practice, question assumptions, deepen professional judgement and explore what it means to work with skill, humanity and relational responsibility.

The first circle will work with Coach the Person, Not the Problem by Marcia Reynolds.

The Coach | Mentor Learning Circle will be a paid programme. Further details will be announced as the offering is developed.

Through the Dark Wood

A six-month Learning Circle for people interested in exploring meaning, transition and the inner journey of the second half of life.

Participants listen to the audiobook between meetings and gather to reflect on the ideas, questions and personal resonances that emerge. The circle offers a thoughtful space in which to explore this stage of life in the company of others.

2027: Through the Dark Wood – Finding Meaning in the Second Half of Life by James Hollis (Audiobook).

Through the Dark Wood is a paid programme with a small group and a structured six-month journey.
